In 1916 M.E. Lien Construction was started by Martin Lien, his wife Julia and their six sons, Raymond, Melvin, Harold, Emil, John and Paul. They began working in South Dakota, North Dakota and Minnesota grading and graveling roads with horse power and massive scrapers.
In 1949 to 1977 Emil, wife Josephine and three sons, Robert, Joe and Tom formed E.L. Lien and Sons, Inc. The company worked in all phases of construction in a five state area grading, gravel, asphalt and concrete paving everything from highways to mining power plants and airports. The family business moved to Aberdeen, South Dakota in 1968 continuing to work statewide but establishing a local business as well.
In 1977, Joe and his wife Edith, formed Lien Transportation Company. Today, the Lien company is still family owned and operated as the fourth generation has stepped in. Based in Aberdeen, South Dakota, they've specialized in full-service site work which range from major interstate highway construction, highways, airport runways, alley way and driveways and demolition of any type of structure. We are an expert in all our fields of specialties which eliminates the need, and price markup, of hiring subcontractors. |
